Update: 5/27/2011
Posey has reportedly suffered a broken fibula and a severe ankle strain, and is expected to miss at least two months of action. Posey did manage to escape any major ligament damage and his knee is fine, so he’ll just have to wait until the break heals, and the strain will heal along with it.
It’ll be a long way for Posey owners, but we don’t recommend dropping him.

According to Giants.mlb.com, San Francisco Giants star catcher Buster Posey will undergo an MRI on his injured left ankle on Thursday, and could miss significant time.
Posey reportedly tweaked his ankle during a collision at home plate against the Florida Marlins on Wednesday, and was immediately taken in for X-rays.
Fantasy Analysis
Well, this isn’t good. Posey’s ankle took a nasty turn, and he was visibly in a lot of pain. There’s no news on whether it is a break, strain, etc, but the fact that he’s getting X-rays and an MRI can’t be good. Look for Posey to hit the 15-Day Disabled List either way, and cross your fingers he isn’t out too much longer. Replacing Posey at this point won’t be easy, as elite catchers don’t grow off trees, and the waiver wire isn’t going to give you a ton of love at the position. Hopefully he’ll be okay, but it’d probably be wise to start sending out some “feeler” trade proposals in an effort to seek a potential long-term replacement.
