According to the Denver Post, Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Jorge De La Rosa’s 2011 season is over after sustaining a complete ligament tear is his left elbow.
De La Rosa is expected to undergo Tommy John Surgery and will miss the remainder of the 2011 season, while his 2012 season will remain in doubt until rehabilitation reports come in following the surgery.
Fantasy Analysis
This is a significant blow to the Rockies’ pitching rotation, and depending on your fantasy roster, losing De La Rosa could impact you negatively in fantasy baseball, too. Hopefully your waiver wire has some talent hanging around, but at least you know Colorado will be showcasing an extra guy that could potentially step up.
Greg Reynolds is expected to get the starting nod this Saturday, while Jhoulys Chacin and Aaron Cook should also end up getting extra run as the season wears on.
