Here are last week’s slumps, a list that includes some big names. Pull them from your fantasy baseball lineups if you need to, or decide if they’re worth waiting on, but keep in mind many of these guys probably won’t be on this list next week.
J.J. Putz, CL, Arizona Diamondbacks
Putz has not performed well in his last two outings, having a blown save and a loss with 3 earned runs in just 1 2/3 innings.
Brett Gardner, OF, New York Yankees
Gardner has struggled mightily at the plate lately and has just 6 hits in his last 42 at bats.
Zach Greinke, SP, Milwaukee Brewers
Greinke hasn’t quite lived up to expectations in Milwaukee, and this this past week didn’t help matters as he went 0-2 in his two starts with 11 earned runs over just 8 innings of work. His ERA now sits at 5.66.
Justin Smoak ,1B, Seattle Mariners
Smoak’s low average is something to be expected to an extent, but his recent power drought is definitely something to be concerned about. He is now homerless in his last 19 games.
Casey McGehee, 3B, Milwaukee Brewers
McGehee hasn’t even been close to as effective as he was last year and is now hitting just .224 on the year with 4 home runs. He may start to see his playing time diminish if things don’t start to pick up for him.
Ben Zobrist, 2B, Tampa Bay Rays
Zobrist, who is up for one of the All-Star game’s last spots, has not been helping out his own cause lately as he is now hitless in his last 5 games and hasn’t homered since May 30.
Jayson Werth, OF, Washington Nationals
Werth managed to find his way back on this list this week after going just 4 for 25 with 1 lone RBI.
Ryan Roberts, 3B ,Arizona Diamondbacks
Roberts has cooled off lately, going just 8 for his last 41 with no homers since June 12.
