Jon Heyman of CBS is reporting that the Detroit Tigers have signed Prince Fielder to a 9-year deal worth $214 Million. Fielder will play first base, while Miguel Cabrera will likely move to DH.
Room for Fielder’s bat in the lineup opened up when Victor Martinez tore a knee in Spring Training, likely putting him out for the season.
Prince grew up watching his father, Cecil, play for the Tigers, and famously hit a home run at Tiger Stadium when he was just 12 years old.
